Grace Manor: Owner's Suite

Now that I’ve caught you up on all things that got me here to Grace Manor, I’m sharing a sneak peek into the first iteration of the Owner’s Suite. I say first iteration because, let’s face it, we all know this is going to change at some point. I’ve learned over the years that you’re never EVER finished decorating your house, lol! But right now, I’m so in love with it, I have no design or décor changes in mind for this space. I still have one area of wall that I need to figure out what to do with, but other than that, I feel giddy every time I walk in here. Ya’ll know I struggle with remembering to take “before” pictures and videos, but I’m working on it. So although it’s not a good capture, here’s a quick peek at the bare space prior to move-in…

I had several ideas in mind when I moved in. Mainly to include a feature wall similar to the last Owners Suite…

I’ve been in the new house now for 6 months, and you can read about that transition HERE. But after living in it for a couple months, I decided not to repeat the black. Instead I decided to find a color that was dark and moody, but not to that extreme. So, since I absolutely LOVED how the Master Closet turned out… you can read all about that project HERE… and I had leftover paint, I said ‘let’s just try it’. I mean, what’s the worst that can happen, right? As soon as I finished it, I knew I wanted to do the whole room in that color. But just to make sure I really, truly loved it, I lived with the rest of the all-white room for another month or so. I was hesitant because the room was so incredibly light and bright, and I didn’t want to mess with that. But I also felt the space had enough light coming in that wouldn’t make painting it a dark color, too dark. So let’s take a look…

Ok, don’t judge me. Yes, that’s a step ladder on the bed, and yes, I know it looks crazy! But that bed is so heavy that I cannot move it alone, so we do what we have to do in those situations… carefully, of course. Anyway, here’s the “after”…

Yep, this color is on repeat in my house! Here’s how the other side of the room looked with the white walls…

I don’t know, it was just kind of meh… Nice, but still, meh. So one Friday night, I paused a K-Drama I was watching, and 4 hours later, I’d painted the entire room! And then I knew…

I'm in Love!

Most things in this room were re-purposed from the last house, but there were a few things that were purchased specifically for this space; the velvet black out drapes, the sofa, the area rug, and the coffee table, which of course I spray painted because… well, that’s what I do, lol!

I’m so glad I decided to go all-in on the dark, moody color. It feels warm, inviting and cozy, and I just love it! Let me know your thoughts and any questions I can answer for you if you’re thinking of painting your own space a dark color. Until next time…
